This move will allow all of us to communicate easier with each other and keep more up to date with events
As before we intend to run 6 trials through the year and our trial dates will be found in the South Western Centre fixture list with entry forms in the monthly gazette as well as being advertised in TMX and on this website
We are affiliated to the ACU which means you can now obtain your licence through us if you wish. No need to fill in a form and queue up at a trial to get your membership and licence code just go on the ACU licence page and where it gives you the option for the renewal code OR renewing/joining club membership take the latter and click on Devonport & District Motorcycle Club, The club membership is £5.00 and once you have done this you will automatically get a renewal code for your licence. Any problems give Simon a call.
For 2016 onwards we have two new exciting venues : at Preston Combe nr. Moreleigh and high up on Dartmoor at Beardown Farm, Two Bridges. The Beardown venue needs a lot of preparatory work; cutting out , etc. and we won't see the full extent of the possibilities until that is carried out.
Also from 2016 we plan to include a class for trail bikes running on the (green) easy route which will also be included n the Aggregate series. We are conscious that in the past we have had a reputation for hard trials which may have deterred novices and newcomers so intend to make the easy (white) route "user friendly" and so encourage more people to enjoy our wonderful sport. Please note the Championship trial at Merrivale will not have a trail bike class and the routes will be of championship standard.
We are conscious that the trials community is not getting any younger and so will offer an over 60 class in the Aggregate series run on the white route.
We have a number of magnificent perpetual trophies, a legacy of the club's long history, and rather than leave them unused in a cupboard we have decided to offer them to the winners of an annual aggregate series. The classes will be as follows :
Over 60 riding easy route - to be allocated
Trail bikes riding easy route - to be allocated
Over 50 riding 50/50 route - Veteran Shield
Sportsman riding 50/50 route - The Pike Cup
Novice riding easy route - BSA Cup
Clubman riding clubman route - Ariel Cup
Pre 65 riding easy route - Triumph Cup
Twinshock riding easy route - Glanfield Lawrence Trophy
Most improved youth and club member of the year will be awarded trophies at the discretion of the committee
Aggregate points will be awarded at all events except the Championship trial
We are allowing riders to miss one trial. Riders that compete in all our trials will have their lowest result discounted and points will be awarded down to
The above cups were sponsored by manufacturers and dealers and are a
part of the DDMC's history, some of them date back to the 50s so are
well worth competing for.
We make an annual charity donation , see links below for more info
